Former members say Pastor Chan Chandler gave them the ultimatum, saying if they didn't support George Bush, they should resign or repent. The minister declined an interview with News 13. But he did say "the actions were not politically motivated." There are questions about whether the bi-laws were followed when the members were thrown out.(Via that anti-Christian, pro-evolution site Pharyngula.)
WLOS reports that in response, "40 [members] have left the church in protest." Well, I say good riddance! We don't need that kind of filth in our churches!
Video here (via another vile anti-God, anti-family site.)
Call East Waynesville Baptist Church right now and tell them that you support pastor Chandler's courageous stand against the forces of darkness: (828) 456-6841. No one answered when I called, but you might have better luck. If not, you can leave a message with the EB Farnum sound-alike recording contraption.
Or, if you prefer, send a Spirit-filled letter to
Pastor Chan Chandler

UPDATE: From the comments:
...another site suggests:"You might also want to drop a note to the IRS -- which will remind Rev. Chandler that using the pulpit for this kind of political propaganda is a big no-no:UPDATE: More details—and lawyers get involved.
"You can call the IRS to report suspected tax fraud at 1-800-829-0433, or see this page for other options."
UPDATE: Paster Chanler wimps out, calls incident a "misunderstanding."
UPDATE: Tragically, Chan Chandler resigns, taking a few parishioners with him.
