I know today is in honor of the dead, but I'd also like to acknowledge the living. Thank you, everyone who ever served in the armed forces. No matter whether you volunteered or were drafted or joined up because you were broke. No matter whether you worked behind a desk in Mississippi or a jungle in Indochina or a carrier in the Pacific. No matter whether you fired a shot or liberated Buchenwald or just marked time with a bucket and a mop. Thank you.
